The Best Hours
The best time to watch the sunset will depend on the season in which it takes place, the location, and, most importantly, whether the weather conditions allow us to enjoy the experience.
It is also important to arrive a little earlier at the spot where you want to view it, to enjoy the changing light and how the landscape shifts as the sun sets. It’s a great experience!!!
The Seasons and the Hours
Spring (March – May):
- During this time, the days start to get longer, so the sunset will be later than in winter.
- Best time: Around 8:30 - 9:00 PM.
- During spring, the colors of the sky and mountains can be spectacular, with the fresh greens of the vegetation starting to appear.
Summer (June – August):
- In summer, the days are longer, so the sunset will be a bit later.
- Best time: Around 9:00 - 9:30 PM.
- In summer, the mountains and sky are often warmer, with shades of orange and red, especially if the sky is clear.
Autumn (September – November):
- In autumn, the days get shorter, and temperatures begin to drop. The sunsets can be spectacular, with the sky tinted in golden, orange, and red hues.
- Best time: Around 6:30 - 7:00 PM at the end of September, and around 5:30 - 6:00 PM at the beginning of November.
- The beauty of autumn also comes with the changing colors of the leaves on the trees.
Winter (December – February):
- In winter, the days are shorter and the temperatures colder. The sunset occurs earlier, usually around 5:30 - 6:00 PM.
- Best time: Around 5:30 PM.
- If you're lucky to have a clear, cloudless day, the contrast between the snow on the mountains and the reddish sky can be absolutely stunning.

We would like to recommend some of the spots from where you can admire the sunset in the Vall de Boí, to experience this in the heart of nature.
Just a short distance from where you leave your car, you can enjoy watching the sun disappear as night falls and the fantastic Starlight sky of the Starlight Tourism Destination and Starlight Reserve, which includes the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park and its surrounding villages (see the blog on "The Best Starlight Viewpoints"). In fact, many of these viewpoints coincide with this area.
Ermita de Sant Quirc de Durro: This location offers exceptional panoramic views of the valley. It also features a Starlight viewpoint, ideal for stargazing.
Mirador in Boí: Situated near the municipal swimming pools, this park has a picnic area and a viewpoint offering impressive views of the valley, perfect for watching the sunset.
