Peaks of more than three thousand meters height; rivers, ravines, water falls and marshes which make us truly feel in the land of water; more than 200 mountain lakes varying in shape and color; and a great diversity of animal and vegetal species that struggle to survive in a harsh environment, all of which give life to this protected natural space, unique in the South of Europe.
The Aigüestortes plateau is a completely flat place, with forests, meadows and water, where we find a circular route of wooden walkways, adapted for wheelchairs and for people with functional diversity. It is an itinerary of low difficulty but of great beauty, ideal for children.
Cavallers constitutes the most marked high mountain area, with a steep and rocky landscape where the trails pass along granite rocks. This is where nature shows its wildest yet most captivating side. It is a paradise for rock and ice climbers since it offers a good number of routes with varying levels of difficulty. This is also the area where the peaks higher than 3000 meters are located.
This label is given to those destinations wich are considered to have excellent qualities for contemplating the night sky and they are protected from any light pollution. Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park has been recognized, and this assure their protection and integration of tourist's infrastructures and activities in the valley.
