The best Starlight viewpoints

Tourist destination and Starlight reserve

The Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park not only stands out for its spectacular landscapes but also for its exceptional night skies. Several surrounding municipalities, including the Vall de Boí, are part of the Starlight Tourist Destination, a certification that recognizes the quality of the night sky and efforts to preserve it.

To enhance stargazing, the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park has created a network of astronomical viewpoints where visitors can identify major constellations. Additionally, the Vall de Boí, with its minimal light pollution, boasts one of the darkest skies in southern Europe, making it an ideal location for a unique astronomical experience.

Key points
  • Let’s light our towns correctly to save energy.
  • Let’s protect nocturnal wildlife, especially migratory birds and insects.
  • Let’s respect the natural cycles of day and night, human rhythms, and everyone’s health.
  • Let’s preserve the heritage of a dark and starry night sky.
Want to enjoy a great stargazing experience?

 We recommend

• Try to reach the viewpoint early in the night while there’s still some daylight to orient yourself and allow your eyes to gradually adjust to the darkness. Our vision adapts to the dark in approximately 15 minutes.

• Use a red-light flashlight and turn it off when not needed.

• If you have them, bring binoculars or a telescope to discover even more celestial wonders.

• Nights can be cold. Wear warm clothing and comfortable shoes for moving around.

• Always respect nature, maintain silence, and leave the area clean.

Astronomical Viewpoints

A network of astronomical viewpoints will help you interpret the night sky, providing schematic guides to the main stars and constellations visible from each location.

Below, you’ll find a list of the astronomical viewpoints available in the Vall de Boí:
