Falles season begins
Durro's Falles, on June 14, kick off the "Vall de Boí Falles" season. A week later, on June 23, it's the turn of Boí and then Barruera, on July 6, Erill la Vall on July 13, Taüll on July 19 and finally the Falles del Pla de l' Hermitage on July 26.
The Festa de les Falles is a tradition deeply rooted in the towns of the valley and is celebrated in many Catalan, Aragonese, French and Andorran Pyrenean towns to celebrate the start of the summer solstice. In 2015 it was declared Intangible Heritage by UNESCO. It is a festival related to the worship of the sun, starting the fire, symbol of the sun, from the mountain and bringing it down towards the town serves to purify the fields and forests, purify the population and preserve it from evil spirits.
