What to do with the family in Vall de Boí?

The TOP 10 things you shouldn't miss
1.- Hiking routes and viewpoints

Discover the valley at the pace of the little ones.

Small and medium walks along traditional paths, adapted for families of all kinds, to go at a leisurely pace, without rushing, discovering what surrounds you and what you find along the way while enjoying the panoramas.

In addition, from the villages you will find viewpoints from which you can have a very good bird's-eye view and the little ones will be amazed!

2.- The Vall de Boí on two wheels. MTB Routes

Whether you bring your own bike or not, in the valley you will find rental companies; it’s another way to enjoy the valley. You will also find activity companies that organize guided tours, so you can discover more surprising routes and more of the valley’s charms.

We suggest two routes for families:

  • The Planos to Barruera Route
  • The Durro Wildlife Route
3.- Visit the Romanesque churches. "The treasures that speak to us"

Through a game, the visit to the Romanesque will be less tedious!

The little ones will have fun while learning with the visits to the Romanesque churches. Children under 10 have free admission, and for those aged 11 and above, as well as adults, you can purchase combined tickets for 3 or 5 churches at the first church you visit. These tickets can be used over several days of your stay in the valley. You can request them at the Romanesque Center (opening in 2025), at the churches, or at the tourist office.

If you can't visit them all, we recommend:

  • Sant Climent de Taüll: Enjoy a spectacular video mapping that recreates the original paintings in their original location.
  • Santa Maria de Taüll
  • Sant Joan de Boí
  • Santa Eulàlia d'Erill la Vall

4.- Relax in the areas of great natural value

The natural environment of the Vall de Boí is very varied and diverse, and it is home to the only national park in Catalonia, the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, where you can enjoy routes of different levels and durations.

If you want to visit with your family, we recommend taking the taxi service from Boí, which will take you directly to Aigüestortes. Once you arrive at Aigüestortes, visit the Sant Esperit viewpoint and the Aigüestortes plateau. Afterward, take the path that leads to estany Llong, an easy and enjoyable route for children.

In the valley, you will also find other natural attractions worth visiting.

The Salencar de Barruera offers an easy circular route, and the gardens of the Caldes de Boí spa, where you can discover more than 30 mineral-medicinal springs through an orienteering course, learning about their health properties. And don't forget to observe the swans!

6.- Visits to the farm and cheese dairy.

The Rutlla, located at the entrance of Barruera, is a space to get closer to nature and meet farm animals. They have a barbecue area and a play area. (July and august)

The Cheese Dairy, located in Taüll, offers tours to learn about how cheeses are made from the goats they raise. In addition to tasting their cheeses, you will have the option to try goat milk ice cream. (July and august)

 

 

 

7.- Interpretive hiking.

10.- What would summer be without pools?

In Vall de Boí, you will find public pools in Barruera open from 11 AM to 7:30 PM, and in Boí open from 10 AM to 9 PM. They host various activities such as concerts to create a lively atmosphere.

Here are the entrance fees for the pools:

  • Adults: €2.5
  • Children up to 12 years old: €1.5
  • Children under 3 years old: free

Other outdoor pools in the valley include those at the Caldes de Boí Spa, open from 11 AM to 7 PM. The entrance fee is €10 for adults and €5 for children aged 3 to 12 years old. The water is thermal, and the setting is exceptional
