World Ski Mountain Championship in Boí Taüll
This past weekend, January 27 and 28, the Ski Mountain World Cup took place at the Boí Taüll ski resort with the sprint and mixed relay events with the participation of around 200 athletes from 27 countries. On Saturday, at 10.30 a.m., the sprint was held, a very fast test, lasting about three minutes, on a circuit with several routes: on foot, ascent uphill and downhill skiing, where the Catalan, Oriol Cardona, achieved the third position and Marta Garcia, fourth among the women followed by Ana Alonso.
Saturday afternoon was the turn of the official presentation in an extraordinary setting, the surroundings of the Romanesque church of Sant Joan de Boí, with parliaments of the authorities, an activity with the boys and girls of the valley, prize giving and a fire castle.
Sunday at 11.00 it was the turn of the mixed relays, a circuit with two climbs and two descents that make up pairs formed by a male and female athlete alternately and where Oriol Cardona and Ana Alonso hung the silver medal.
With this event, the Boí Taüll station is consolidated as a reference station for mountain skiing (it has four signposted itineraries) and a reference in the organization of sporting events at world level. We remember that the Vall de Boí is also firmly committed to the organization of sporting events throughout the year and has created the tourist brand Outdoor Park Vall de Boí that encompasses all outdoor sports and leisure activities with the 'goal to position itself as a reference destination for sports practice and training throughout the state.
